Each bay in Tillamook County is a little different, but they are all estuaries where freshwater and saltwater meet. Estuaries and the wetlands that surround them are bodies of water that form where rivers meet the sea. Estuaries are home to a diverse range of plant and animal species that have evolved to thrive in brackish water, which is a combination of fresh water from the land and salty seawater.
