In this blog, Dr. Mike introduces us to Nigel, a white pelican. Nigel suffered an injury to his wing in the wild, which resulted in the tip of his wing being amputated. Because of this, Nigel would not be able to survive in the wild, so he was given a home at Brookfield Zoo. Dr. Mike and other veterinary staff perform a wellness exam and take x-rays of Nigel's wing to make sure he's healthy and ready to be placed with Brookfield Zoo's white pelican group.
